The Newborn Session You’ve Been Dreaming Of: Beautifully Yours | Columbus Ohio Newborn Photography

There is something extraordinary about bringing your baby home for the first time.

The tiny fingers. The sleepy stretches. The way they fit perfectly into your arms. The overwhelming love you feel when you look at the little person who has changed everything.

Your baby will never be this small again.

And while beautiful portraits of your newborn are incredibly special, I believe the most meaningful images are often the ones that include you.

The way your baby curls into your chest. The way your partner looks at them. Big brother or sister holding their tiny hand. The quiet moments of connection that, years from now, will transport you right back to this season of your life.

That is why my newborn sessions focus so much on family.

More Than a Newborn Photo Session

When you book a newborn session with me, you aren't booking a predetermined collection of poses.

You're creating an experience that is uniquely yours.

Every family is different, and I want your photographs to reflect that.

Maybe you envision an intimate, editorial portrait of your entire family together. Maybe you want something soft and timeless. Perhaps you want beautifully styled portraits of your baby alongside classic family photographs.

Or maybe you have something completely different in mind.

Tell me.

I love creating photographs around what you want.

Your session can be elegant and refined, playful and full of personality, intimate and emotional, or a beautiful combination of all of it. I guide you throughout the experience while leaving room for the moments that happen naturally.

The goal isn't simply to create pretty photographs.

It's to create photographs that feel like your family.

The Family Images Matter Most

Years from now, you may not remember exactly how tiny your baby's toes were.

But you will remember how it felt to hold them.

You will see the photograph of your newborn tucked against your chest and remember the weight of them in your arms. You'll see your partner looking down at your baby and remember the overwhelming emotion of becoming parents. You'll see siblings together and remember the beginning of their relationship.

Those are the photographs that become heirlooms.

I want you to have the beautiful portraits of your baby, of course—but I also want you to exist in these memories.

Because your children deserve photographs of the people who loved them first.

Your Vision Comes First

Before your session, we talk about what you're envisioning.

What do you love?

What do you want displayed in your home?

Do you prefer neutral, timeless imagery? Do you want something more fashion-forward and editorial? Are there specific family combinations or photographs you've always dreamed of having?

I'll take all of that into consideration when designing your session.

Because This Season Doesn't Last

The newborn stage is beautifully fleeting.

The tiny outfits eventually get packed away. The late nights become a distant memory. Those little fingers grow into hands that reach for independence.

But your photographs remain.

I want you to be able to look at your newborn portraits decades from now and still feel the emotion of that day.

I want your children to grow up seeing themselves surrounded by the people who loved them most.

And I want the artwork hanging in your home to feel just as beautiful and meaningful as the memories themselves.

Your newborn session should never feel like simply checking something off a list.

It should feel like an experience worth remembering.

And when you see your finished images, I want you to think:

This is us.

Ready to Create Something Beautiful?

Whether you're dreaming of timeless family portraits, sophisticated editorial newborn photography, or a combination of beautifully posed and genuine connection-filled images, your session can be created around your vision.

Your baby will only be this little once.

Let's preserve more than how they looked.

Let's preserve how this moment felt.

What to Wear for Newborn Photos | Jacqueline Marie Photography | Columbus Ohio

What to Wear for Newborn Photos (A Simple Guide for Timeless, Beautiful Images)

If you’re preparing for a newborn photography session in Columbus, Ohio, one of the most common questions is: what should we wear?

The good news is—your clothing choices don’t need to be complicated. The best outfits for newborn photos are simple, comfortable, and timeless, so your baby remains the focus of every image.

At Jacqueline Marie Photography, I help families create natural, soft, and emotion-filled newborn portraits that will never go out of style.

The #1 Rule: Keep It Simple

When choosing outfits for newborn photos, less is always more.

The goal is to keep attention on:

  • Your baby’s tiny features

  • Connection between family members

  • Natural emotion and softness

-Avoid anything that distracts from your baby, such as loud patterns or heavy logos.

What Baby Should Wear

For newborn sessions, babies are typically photographed in:

  • Soft swaddles

  • Neutral wraps

  • Simple onesies

  • Or completely natural (no clothing)

Neutral tones like:

  • white

  • cream

  • beige

  • soft gray

work beautifully for newborn photography in Columbus, Ohio because they keep the focus on your baby’s skin tones and expressions.

What Mom Should Wear

For moms, the most flattering and timeless options are:

Soft, neutral dresses

  • Flowing fabrics photograph beautifully

  • Solid colors keep attention on your baby

  • Avoid tight or heavily structured clothing

Earth tones and soft neutrals

  • Cream

  • Taupe

  • Soft blush

  • Warm beige

Comfort is key

Newborn sessions are relaxed and baby-led, so comfort matters just as much as style.

What Dad Should Wear

For dads, simple and clean outfits work best:

  • Solid neutral t-shirts or henleys

  • Button-down shirts (light colors work best)

  • Avoid logos, bold patterns, or neon colors

Stick to:

  • white

  • gray

  • navy

  • earth tones

What Siblings Should Wear

If siblings are included in your newborn session:

  • Keep colors neutral and coordinated (not matching exactly)

  • Avoid busy prints or cartoon characters

  • Soft textures like knits or cotton photograph well

The goal is harmony, not matching outfits.

Best Colors for Newborn Photography

For timeless newborn photos in Columbus, Ohio, the most flattering color palette includes:

  • Soft white

  • Cream

  • Beige

  • Muted earth tones

  • Soft pastels (very light blush, sage, dusty blue)

These colors help create a soft, cohesive gallery that won’t feel dated over time.

What to Avoid Wearing

To keep your newborn photos clean and timeless, try to avoid:

  • Neon or bright colors

  • Busy patterns or large prints

  • Heavy branding or logos

  • Matching outfits that feel overly “posed”

  • Distracting jewelry or accessories

Why Outfit Choice Matters

Your clothing plays a subtle but important role in newborn photography.

The right wardrobe:

  • Keeps focus on your baby

  • Creates a cohesive gallery

  • Enhances emotion and connection

  • Ensures your images stay timeless for years

That’s especially important for families booking newborn photography in Columbus, Ohio who want images they’ll still love decades from now.

Styling Help for Your Session

One of the benefits of working with Jacqueline Marie Photography is that you don’t have to figure this out alone.

I guide every family through:

  • Outfit selection

  • Color coordination

  • Styling for the entire family

  • What photographs best in your session setting

The goal is a stress-free experience where everything feels natural and effortless.

Final Thoughts

Newborn photography is about preserving a moment that passes incredibly quickly. What you wear should enhance those memories—not distract from them.

The New Studio is open! | Columbus Ohio Maternity, Newborn, Family Portrait Photographer

The Commercial Studio is open!

As of February 1st 2021 the new commercial studio is open! I’ve received so many compliments and the families that have been photographed in the new space just love it! I’ve been asked what made you finally get a studio?

Well, I’ve been wanting the perfect commercial studio for a while, and it just took time to find the perfect space to continue to serve the families of Columbus Ohio. I had a vision of what I wanted it to look like, the aesthetic appearance, and ceiling height and location were all important to me! 7 years ago I started photographing all of my amazing clients in my home studio. I started in our bonus room, and then moved to the first floor room. It was a tight space, but I made it work. Over time I extended the home studio to be double the size and it worked great, clients loved it! But, with the ongoing pandemic, I especially wanted a space that was separate from my home for clients to come to for so many reasons, and I wanted to make sure they felt they were also offered the best opportunity for their sessions!

But, it was time!! It was time for more space, it was time to have more opportunities to offer more variety in my sessions, it was time to better the experience and professionalism I offer my clients! After all, this isn’t just about the photos I take and you receive; this is about what I offer all of you and the one of a kind experience you receive!

I know driving time is a huge consideration to families when booking a photographer, especially a newborn photographer. I am conveniently located off route 70, and minutes form 270. The commercial studio is located in front of the Taylor square shopping center. This gives families with younger siblings options for their newborn sessions if they don’t want to stay at the studio. Retail, lots of food options, and even Blacklick Woods metro park is 5 minutes away!

Having 1300 sq ft creates a more comfortable environment for my families. This gives me the ability to work quicker and more efficiently during your session! Having everything set up and ready to go is essential for all sessions! My goal is to have every family in and out within 2 hours or less for newborn sessions, and an hour for milestones. As new parents, with a newborn baby, your time is important to me! The studio is full of the best props and accessories available on the market, and a collection of designer clothing for moms and children!

I welcome you to schedule a tour and come see the studio in person! I would love to meet you, go over specific details for your session, and share the extensive collection of props and wardrobe that will make your custom portrait session one of a kind!!

Thanks to all my amazing clients for the continued love and support the past 7 years. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you!

Studio Renovation

I’ve always wanted to remodel the studio with a lifestyle bed setup, use the beautiful natural light from my windows and redo the flooring with a distressed wood look! This quarantine 2020 has been the perfect time to tackle all of my studio plans!! We’re ALMOST done, but I wanted to share the updated space with you!

I’ve enjoyed designing this space to be welcoming and cozy and allow parents to feel safe and comfortable while I photograph their little one. I equally love neutrals and soft pastels and you will see this throughout my studio.

I’ve spend endless hours finding the most perfect and best products to offer my clients to have of their images. You will see some of my favorites here, and I have even more on the way I will share soon! The beautiful lay flat photo albums, wood heirloom photo blocks, and torn edge mounted prints are my favorites.

Welcome to my studio. I hope you enjoy!
