Resuming studio sessions and the new Covid-19 Guidelines

Hello everyone!

It’s been a long time since I have updated my blog, but I thought now was the perfect to go over all the new details moving forward with Covid-19. I miss seeing all of my clients and adorable babies in the studio! This quarantine has been something new for everyone and a big adjustment.

As always, safety is my biggest concern for all of my families. I’ve implemented some new guidelines going forward to ensure the health and well being, along with providing the safest environment possible while still capturing your family’s precious memories.

  1. Immediate family only: I know it’s an exciting time for you family as we capture your memories. The studio will be limited to only those family members being included in your session (parents and children). Grandparents and extended family members may not attend at this time. If you are a newborn client with other children, siblings will be photographed first with baby, then family portraits, and then asked to leave with a parent, or please make arrangements to have children picked up.

  2. Wash hands upon entering: I will continually wash and sanitize my hands; before, during and after your session. Everyone entering the studio must sanitize hands at entrance. Hand sanitizer will be available in the studio.

  3. Remove shoes upon entering: All shoes must be removed before entering the studio. If you prefer, please bring socks or foot coverings.

  4. Masks will be worn: I will wear a mask for your session, and everyone entering the studio must also wear one. The only time your mask can be safely removed is when you are being photographed. This includes parents and children. I have nitrile free medical gloves available if you prefer I wear those. If you have concerns, please discuss with photographer.

  5. Studio cleaned after each client: The studio has always been, and will continue to be cleaned and sanitized before and after each client. Surfaces will be disinfected. I just added a Dyson air purifier that will heat/cool the studio, along with continually purifying the air to eliminate pollutants, allergens and bacteria.

  6. Fabrics cleaned and sanitized between all clients: As always, all fabrics are always washed between clients with free and clear detergent. Items that can’t be machine washed (such as headbands and delicate knit props) will be sanitized after use, and not reused for 72 hours. At this time, please leave all your personal props at home. We have everything you need here at the studio! Please only bring what you need for baby into the studio (diaper bag, feedings). Please leave all extra items in your car.

  7. Illness: As always, the studio has a very strict sick policy and will not photograph anyone with illness symptoms. This includes, but is not limited to: fever, cough, runny nose, congestion, sore throat, rash. All clients will be asked about possible exposures, and illness symptoms in any family member before your session. Clients will also be asked to sign a Covid-19 waiver.

Per the Governor’s order, I can safely resume sessions after May 12th! If you have any questions please let me know. I can’t wait to see you all again soon!

Newborn Baby Boy Photography Session in Columbus Ohio Styled with Neutral Colors

Newborn Photography Columbus, OH

I had the honor of meeting the Patterson family from Upper Arlington during their newborn photography session. This sweet family welcomed their first child; a sweet baby boy! We had so much fun snuggling baby Luke! He definitely let us know which poses he liked and didn’t like. Once he was snuggled and sleepy he shared so many smiles with us!

His family asked for neutral shades and colors for his setups. Of course, my favorite! These images always look timeless and display beautifully is anyone’s home. Luke looked adorable in the teddy bear bonnet and sleeper. My favorite family image I will share in this post. He smiled when he was bring held by mom and dad!

I’m incredibly blessed I get to meet such amazing families and capture all these memories along the way. Thank you again Patterson family for choosing me to document this precious time in your lives. I would love to see you all again!

Columbus Ohio Newborn Photographer

The Blanchard family from Galena, OH recently welcomed their sweet baby boy into their family. I was honored when they contacted me to capture these precious memories for them!

Owen’s family chose gray and blue for the main colors for the setups we used in his newborn session. These colors are the most popular choice of families with little boys. I love them myself! Some of my favorite props are these colors too.

Owen has two awesome older siblings that just adore him. They were great for the session and loved holding him! Owen was an angel and slept the entire time. We captured some beautiful images for his family. My favorite image is Owen posed in the bucket. His family also chose this image for the custom birth announcements I designed for them. His family also chose a large canvas to be displayed in their home.

Thank you again Blanchard family for choosing me to capture Owen’s newborn memories. May you cherish them for years to come!

Displaying your professional images in your home | How to make a beautiful gallery wall

Columbus Ohio Photographer

I was recently contacted by Megan of Monkey Bar Storage in Columbus, OH. She reached out to collaborate with me on what it takes to design a gallery wall in your home to display your beautiful images! As a photographer who specializes in custom wall art and designing wall galleries for my clients, I was excited to help out! Megan wrote this blog post and included some helpful tips, as well as included images from my portfolio to design the walls. This is a custom feature I offer my clients from every session. I hope you enjoy the post!

Organizing Your Professional Gallery Wall

I often find myself wanting to reorganize my home without having the time and resources to give it that total makeover I’m hoping for. Yet, there are several different things I can change without spending a fortune and it eating up all my spare time. I have found that really focusing on my living room has given my home a fresher feel and helps any guests feel more welcome. Here are a few tips to beautify your living room by simply organizing the pictures on the wall.

Select Coordinating Frames

Make sure that the frames you choose for your gallery wall coordinate with the furniture and wall decor to keep the cohesive feel in your living room.  Don’t be afraid to use different sizes, colors, and shapes as long as they all work together without clashing. You can also find artwork that fits with the style of your home to incorporate with your gallery wall.

Map It Out

Before you start hanging your pictures and artwork, be sure to layout each frame on the ground how you want it to look on your wall. Space them out exactly how you are thinking so you can take the measurements. You can also take string or tape to map out the bottom and top of the wall so you know how high up you’ll want your pictures to hang. Don’t forget to take note in the layout where sofas or shelving units may be so you don’t run into issues when you start hanging.

Take the Measurements

It can be tricky to remember which measurements go with each frame and where on the wall you want to place them. You can bypass this by using sticky notes or easy peel tape. For each picture, measure how far apart the d-rings on the back of the frame are to make it easier when hanging. You will also need to measure how far apart each frame is from the next. This will include how far up the bottom pictures will be from the base of your wall.

Find Wall Hangers

Depending on what kind of wall and paint you have in your living room, you will need to purchase different kinds of wall hangers. If you have heavier pictures make sure you have a wall mount you won’t have to worry about staying up. Here are a few ideas of wall hangers you can use for your pictures.

●     Command strips

●     Monkey hooks

●     Wire toggle hooks

●     Crimp nail hooks

●     One step hangers

Hang Your Pictures

Using the measurements, you’ve already taken, start hanging your pictures! Be sure to double check measurements as you go along to make sure you don’t have to put more holes in your wall than necessary. Take your time and make sure you know how your wall hangers go into your wall properly. It can be incredibly frustrating if you have to uninstall and install hangers over and over again. It is also helpful to have a level handy to help make sure your pictures aren’t slanted to give your gallery wall a professional look.

Step Back and Admire

Organizing your gallery wall can take a while, so make sure you take a step back to admire your handiwork! If you have pictures from Jacqueline Marie Photography included in your gallery will be sure to send her a picture of your wall as well. Professional pictures make every gallery wall come alive and Jacqueline would love to admire your wall with you.

Organizing the pictures on your wall is the first giant step to beautifying your living area. Finding 5 or 10 minutes here or there will help you organize the rest of the room. What other ideas do you have to beautify your living room?
